Father Myles The Reverend Canon Myles Davies, Vicar   [ e-mail  ]

Fr Myles Davies has been vicar of St Anne, Stanley since 1984. Born in Liverpool, he trained for ordination at Salisbury and Wells Theological College. He was ordained deacon in 1974 and priest in 1975. He was curate of St Mary the Virgin, West Derby from 1974 to 1977 when he moved to become curate of St Thomas, Seaforth. In 1980 he was instituted as vicar of Seaforth. In addition to his parish responsibilities, Fr Myles served as chairman of the Diocesan Liturgical Committee from 1989 until 2001, and since 1993 as the advisor for Liturgy on the Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches in Liverpool Diocese. From 1994 until 2005, he served as Diocesan Director of Ordinands, leading the team of those who support those training for or considering ordained ministry within Liverpool Diocese. He was made a Canon Diocesan of Liverpool Cathedral in 2001. In 2005 he was licensed as Priest in charge of the neighbouring parish of St Paul, Stoneycroft. In March 2006 he was appointed Canon Residentiary at Liverpool Cathedral (see photos) alongside his responsibilities as Parish Priest. His hobbies centre around music and food!


 
Emma Calderwood
The Reverend Emma Calderwood, Assistant Curate  [ e-mail  ]

Emma Calderwood was ordained Deacon in June 2006, Priest in June 2007, and is serving her title in St. Anne's, Stanley and St Paul, Stoneycroft. She is a member of SCP and involved with the diocesan committees for education and chaplaincy which stems from her working life prior to ordination as youth worker and secondary school lay-chaplain, in Somerset. Prior to those roles and after growing up in Somerset, she read biology in Derby, has worked in a retreat centre in East Sussex, as a parish assistant in the West Indies, as a gap year charity worker based in Wales sending people to and visiting with parishes in various African countries. She trained for ordination at St. Michael's theological college in Llandaff, Cardiff where, after completing a theological degree, she combined her two degrees in further study of a Masters in Christian Bioethics, studying particularly, issues concerning designer babies and cloning (see graduation photo).
Alongside her interest of scientific / religious ethical debates, her hobbies include travelling, playing the oboe and music generally, films, quizzes, and the 'who-done-its' of life - especially murder mysteries!

Lena Prince The Reverend Lena Prince, Honorary Curate

Lena Prince has been in full time ministry for more than forty years. As a parish worker, she served in the parish of Kirkby when the new Team Ministry was being formed, then in the parish of St John, Knotty Ash. Lena was ordained Deaconess in 1966 and spent more than twenty years of distinguished ministry in the parish of St Mary the Virgin, West Derby. When she retired in 1986, she became honorary curate of St Anne's. She was ordained deacon in 1987, and was the first woman to be ordained priest in Liverpool Cathedral in May, 1994. She continues a full time ministry in retirement, and her hobbies include football and visiting!
