On Palm Sunday evening the choir will perform John Maunder's Olivet to Calvary to
continue the revival of this long lost tradition. We performed it for the first time in over 25 years last year and everyone enjoyed it very much. We are pleased to welcome back guest soloists to perform with us.
Stuart Keen - tenor
Damien O'Keeffe - bass
The piece recalls the events of Jesus' last few days on earth. Members of the
congregation will be familiar with a couple of pieces from it that we sing already.
The piece is full of dramatic moments from Jesus' arrest in the garden and the Jews
crying for him to be crucified, to more poignant moments like the walk over the Mount
of Olives and Jesus' death on the cross.
The music is interspersed with hymns for the congregation to join in so everyone
can have a good sing.
We will be accompanied by Martyn Noble who is organ scholar at Liverpool Cathedral.
Tickets are priced £5 in aid of church funds and include a glass of wine after the performance.
In wet weather the gate from Prescot Road is closed as the path is very slippy so
access to the church is through the car park on Cheadle Avenue.
